Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned. This is taken from Romans 5:12.
The first to die was faithful Abel. In Genesis 4:8 tells us: “After that Cain said to his brother Abel: “Let us go over into the field.” So while they were in the field, Cain assaulted his brother Abel and killed him.” (The first murder.)
Then Adam’s other offspring grew old and died. Did they inherit sin as well as death? The apostle Paul answered: “Through the disobedience of the one man many one made sinners.” This is taken from Romans 5:19 which the whole part says: “For just through the disobedience of the one man many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one person many will be made righteous.”
Sin and death inherited from Adam thus became an implacable enemies of mankind, inescapable for an perfect humans. We cannot exactly describe all that was involved in passing on their sad inheritance to Adam’s immediate and distant offspring, but passed on it was. Fittingly, the Bible refers to an inherited sin and death as “the shroud that is enveloping all the peoples and the covering that is woven over all the nations.” This is taken from Isaiah 25:7: “In this mountain he would do away with the shroud that is in enveloping all the peoples and then covering that is woven over all the nations.”
This suffocating covering, or shroud, this intricate webwork of condemnation, entraps all people. So the fact is that “in Adam all are dying.” This is taken from first Corinthians 15:22 which says: “for just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive.”
